Focused dialogue fosters the re-thinking of strategies to solve global cybersecurity issues
DigitalStakeout, a leading innovator and source of breakthrough Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, today released its summary of the results from its inaugural Cybersecurity Defense-in-Dimension Roundtable held in Washington, D.C.
The Roundtable worked and identified four cornerstone issues as the basis for expanded future roundtable discussions. The four issues are:
- The immutable need for integration of Global threat intelligence in business/mission based security infrastructures
- The need to move to dynamic information-centric cybersecurity systems that support all source analysis and enable "non-obvious threat attribution"
- The priority to drive performance based strategies with value based mission and business metrics
- Create a Trusted SIEM reference architecture that breaks the contextual constraints of defense-in-depth and advances Defense-in-Dimension as the way forward.
DigitalStakeout President, Adam Mikrut, opened the Roundtable commenting that "advances and innovation in Cybersecurity strategies, tactics, and technologies dictate that thought leaders work together and drive a ‘meeting of the minds’ to ensure that the multi-dimensional nature of the threats and solutions are discussed in a global and multi-disciplined way."
"The participants in the Defense-in-Dimension Roundtable bring a wealth of diversity and depth of experience and perspective to the discussion," noted Robert West, founder and CEO of Echelon One. "In working with both the supply and demand side of cybersecurity I see the Roundtable as a real source of best-thinking and I look forward to my role in the roundtable to center the discussion on closing the gap between the arsenal of cybersecurity tools available to the organizations Echelon One works with and the pressing operational and governance needs they have."
"The Defense-in-Dimension Roundtable’s focused dialogue and collective thinking gives organizations a view on how to move from their defensive cybersecurity postures – to adaptive, proactive, and preemptive security postures … and will be particularly beneficial for MITA Group’s clients in the US Federal Government community," said Jim Hunt, MITA Group Partner and Roundtable member.
"Most notable from the Roundtable discussion was its unanimity on the need to focus on the ‘measures-that-matter’ and the multidimensional need to balance operational capabilities with governance and performance management capabilities," said Betsy Nichols, representing PlexLogic. She cited "the universal need to put security into appropriate business context … without which security will continue to be viewed by many as an expense – vs. the investment opportunity that it is in actuality."
The next Defense-in-Dimension Roundtable meeting is scheduled for September 2008.
